LOCAL 306 PRESIDENT

Sister June Harris began her Postal career in 1984 at the Chicago Bulk Mail Center as Part-Time Flexible Mail Handler. She later became a union representative in 1992. While serving in the Union as Chief Steward, she developed her representational skills and was promoted to serve in various positions: Arbitration Advocate, Manager of the Local 306 Arbitration Committee, a representative for all Northern Illinois Associate offices.


June Harris has held various positions in Local 306: shop steward, 1992- 1996; Chief Steward on Tour 2, 1996-2007, and Arbitration Advocate since 1998. Sister Harris has held the position of Recording Secretary from 2001- 2007 and Vice President of Local 306 in 2007-2013. In January 2014, Sister Harris was duly elected as the Local President of Local 306, a position that she currently holds.


Because of her passion and commitment to the National Postal Mail Handlers Union and its valued members, President Harris has been appointed to serve in numerous capacities at the National level. She currently serves as the Chair Person for the NPMHU National Women Committee and is a member of the National Shop Steward Training Committee. Sister Harris was recently elected by acclamation to her second term as the Central Region Vice President.


Sister Harris has helped to shape the direction of the NPMHU through her service as an elected delegate to each of the last four NPMHU National Conventions - including her service as Chairwoman of the Election Committee. June Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.


It is imperative to President Harris that the membership of our local are treated with dignity and respect. That their contractual rights are not violated or disregarded. It is our goal to give world-class representation to the awesome members of this awesome Union!
