Statement from National Postal Mail Handlers Union President Paul V. Hogrogian on the Passing of AFL

Like my fellow brothers and sisters of the labor movement, I was surprised and even more saddened by the sudden passing of President Richard Trumka.

Throughout his time as a labor leader, within the United Mine Workers of America and the AFL-CIO, President Trumka promoted basic workers’ rights and the benefits of collective bargaining. He was a powerhouse of the movement with a strong voice for the cause. He touted this message regardless of the level of national support for the union movement. Rich also understood the value of the postal service and its dedicated workforce. NPMHU is grateful for the times he took to speak to our members at national conventionsOur union and our fellow AFL-CIO affiliates are better because of his leadership.

The NPMHU and our union brothers and sister mourn the loss of President Trumka, and we are proud to continue Rich’s work.
